Preliminary 2009 Event Information

April 19th, 2009

    

The Run-Through-Redlands, has been one of the biggest running events in the Inland Empire Area for Twenty-Six years.   Proceeds from the run will be distributed to local charities and to provide scholarships for worthy local youth as administered by the Kiwanis Club of Redlands

Site Directions & Date

The race will be held, rain or shine, on April 19th, 2009 -   Starting at the Redlands Mall in downtown Redlands, {see course maps}, the event finishes at the historic Redlands Bowl.  Start Times:  1/2 Marathon at 7:25; 10k at 7:35 a.m.;  WC-5K at 7:50a.m.; 5k at 7:55 a.m.  

The Kinder Dash, for children age 3 to 6, starts at 10:00 a.m.  

Course distances for the 5K, 10K, and 1/2 Marathon have been officially measured and certified by USATF formerly known as T. A. C.

Registration Information

Early registration (postmarked by April 13th) is $25 for 5K,  $30 for 10k, and  $45 for 1/2m -  which includes a T-shirt.  After April 13th fees are: $30 for 5K,  $35 for 10k, $50 for 1/2m   Race Day registration is $35 for 5k,  $40 for 10k, and  $55 for 1/2m.  

Special events include:
  1) Kinderdash {$5.00 NO T-Shirt}. 2) 5K ADA Wheelchair Athlete.  For registration information and other details, CLICK HERE

Register on-line or get a copy of the registration form {click here} at our site or at The Running Center, The Redlands Chamber of Commerce, or the Redlands City Clerk's Office.  Mail with a non-refundable check or money order to A Run Through Redlands, P. O. Box 8427, Redlands CA 92375.  Pre-registrations received prior to April 14th are guaranteed T-Shirts.  Shirt orders will not be taken on race day.

Pre-registered runners can pick up their bibs & shirts Saturday, April 18th at the Redlands Mall (at top of escalators) during extended hours from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Late registration will also be available during these hours.

Check-in & Late Registration at the Redlands Mall underground parking area on the day of the event, opens at 6:15 a.m. & closes at the start time of each timed event.  Late registration will also be available, but shirt orders will not be taken.  
   
Kinder Dash registration will be available Race Day only, from 8:30am until 10:am. in front of the Lincoln Shrine.

Driving Directions to the Mall:  

Coming from Ontario/Los Angeles area, Eastbound on I-10, take the "Orange Street -Downtown" off ramp.   If coming from Beaumont/Palm Springs Area, Westbound on I-10 take the "Sixth Street - Downtown".   Click on the links above for a MapQuest Map from the correct off ramp to the Mall.

ChronoTrack UHF RFID & Event Timing:  

ChronoTrack UHF RFID technology will be used for all competitive events. This system provides each registered participant with his/her accurate race time. A Disposable Tag that is attached to the bib for ease of registration. The runner only needs to pick up a bib. No Tag, No time.   There is no need to collect chips after the finish, the runner walks away - No lost chip charges. Tag remains on the runner's shoe, allowing Race Central to print a live results label with times and place.

Competitive timing will end at 12:00 noon.  Participants completing the course after this cut-off will not receive a finish time.

Course Description

Walkers & wheelchairs are welcome in all events.  Three exciting courses, new in 2008, mark the 26th Anniversary of the run in 2009.   The 5k, 10k and half marathon courses wind through beautiful Redlands tree-lined streets past historic homes with breathtaking views of the San Bernardino mountains.  The 5k course is almost entirely flat.  The 10k course features fewer climbs and will include running through historic Smiley Heights.  The half marathon course will also be faster (less elevation gain) than previous years and will include running through Prospect Park, the Redlands Country Club area, Redlands Community Hospital and Smiley Heights on the way back to downtown Redlands and the finish at the Redlands Bowl.

There are three aid stations on the 10k course and eleven on the 1/2 marathon course.    Water, oranges, and snacks will be available to all runners showing bib numbers.

Awards

A $200.00 gift certificate will be awarded for overall male & female winner in each of the 5k, 10k, & 1/2 marathon events.  Presentations will be made at the awards ceremony at the Redlands Bowl immediately following the compilation of the race results.  First through Fifth Place medals will be awarded in the following age divisions:

7-9 20-24 35-39 50-54 65-69
10-12 25-29 40-44 55-59 70-74
13-15 30-34 45-49 60-64 75 -79
16-19   80+

The first three and final two divisions are combined in the half-marathon.  There is no separate Race Walk division.   All Half Marathon finishers will receive a finishers medal.

Special Attractions

        5K ADA Wheelchair Athlete Event

We've teamed up with PossAbilities to add a special 5k Wheelchair event to our competitive line up.   The start will be 3-minutes ahead of the regular 5K run.  Early registration (postmarked by April 13th) is $25  which includes a T-shirt.  After April 13th the fee is $30,  and  Race Day registration is $35.  All fees in the wheelchair are the same as our regular 5K event, but awards will be only to the top 5 finishers in the wheelchair division.    Wheelchairs, baby strollers and walkers are welcome in all our events, but there is no separate division, outside of wheelchair portion the 5K event.

Kinder Dash: {$5.00 NO T-Shirt included}.

Children ages three to six will be able to participate in a short Dash competition.   Kinder Dash begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Lincoln Shrine Park, adjacent to the Bowl.   Registration is available on event day only from 8:30am until 10:am. in front of the Lincoln Shrine adjacent to the finish line.  All Participants receive Run Through Redlands Event Ribbons.

School Age Groups {K-12}:

Students representing their school, who wish to run as a group must register using the Group Registration Form available here or call (909) 748-0637 and leave mailing address.   To qualify for a discounted {$15 per runner} fee, registration must be submitted during the early registration period which ends April 13th.  Minimum group size is 15 runners.  There can be several teams from each school competing against each other.  Students are encouraged to challenge faculty or other classrooms at their school.  Follow these links for a  list of TEAMS ENTERED or  CONTACT at YOUR SCHOOL.
