The
purpose of the pilgrimage is to encourage youth to dedicate themselves to
the principles held by Abraham Lincoln and our founding fathers, according
to volunteer coordinator Don Buchanan of
Redlands
.
Lincoln
Pilgrimage youth participants will be primarily from
Riverside
and
San Bernardino
Counties
, however, young people from
Los Angeles
to
San Diego
counties also have registered to take part.
The
pilgrimage parade starts at 10 a.m. with participants walking from the
Redlands High School baseball field area, at the corner of Citrus Street
and University Avenue, traveling west on Citrus Street through downtown
Redlands to Eureka Street, turning south and heading to the Redlands Bowl
for a free historical presentation and music, beginning at about 11a.m.
"Without
a Vision a People Perish":
Take
the opportunity to share with your young people the vision given our
country by President Abraham Lincoln! Plan to have your group in the
71st Annual Pilgrimage and visit the only Lincoln Shrine west of the
Mississippi River.
